Sylvester's speed is 4.72 m/s because
the unit of distance is meter or metre (m)
the unit of time is seconds (s)
so distance/time = m/s
8.5m/1.8 seconds = 4.7
just put 4.72 because 2 is not terminating or if there are more numbers written in the answer just put two decimals on it.

36 (smaller number)  and 73 (bigger number)

Explanation:

sum of two numbers = x + x

one number is one more than twice = 2x + 1

other number = x

so it's: 2x + 1 + x = 109

eliminate the 1 by subtracting one to both sides: 2x + 1 - 1 + x = 109 - 1

then combine like terms: 3x = 108

then divide: 108 / 3 = 36. x = 36.

now it looks like this: 36 + 2x + 1 = 109. Now all you need to do is multiply 36 by two then add 1, which would result in 73. Add both of the numbers to make sure
