The structure of two carriers of genetic information, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA), are different because the DNA is double stranded while the RNA has only one strand. Moreover, the base pairings within the two gene carriers are different and made up of nucleotides.

How do these nucleotides pair? Know here:

DNA is a double-stranded molecule while RNA is single-stranded. DNA has the sugar deoxyribose while RNA nas ribose. They both have a phosphate group. DNA has 4 nitrogenous bases namely adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine. Adenine pairs with thymine, while cytosine pairs with guanine. RNA also has four nitrogenous bases, but instead of thymine, it has a similar base named uracil. Uracil is paired with adenine, while cytosine is still paired with guanine.
