The characteristics of the image formed by a curved mirror can be summarized as L-O-S-T. Where L is the location, O is the orientation, S is the size, and T is the type of image.

Image are formed in a mirror through reflection of the light rays coming from the object. The location of the object affects the characteristics and location of the image formed in a concave and convex mirror through the angle of the reflection of light rays.

The distance of the object from the mirror might affect the point of intersection where the light rays converge forming the image.

Now let us summarize the location, orientation, size and type of the image formed by curved mirrors.

The following summarizes the image formed by concave mirrors in five possible location of the object:

1. beyond the center of curvature

L- between the center of curvature and focal point

O - inverted

S- reduced

T - real image

2. Center of Curvature

L - center of curvature

O - inverted

S - the same size as the object

T - real image

3. between center of curvature and focal point

L - beyond the center of curvature

O - inverted

S - enlarged

T - real image

4. Located at the focal point

5. In front of the focal point

L - opposite the side of the mirror

The image formed from convex mirror is:

L - located behind the mirror

O - upright

S - reduced

T - virtual image

The location of the object does not affects the image formed by convex mirror.
